Winter Youth Engagement Program.
The vision of our beloved King is to impart wholesome education to all Bhutanese children in a meaningful way. His Majesty believes that, in this way, they will better prepare to face the challenges and responsibilities of the future as enlightened citizens.
I quote, “Children are our treasures. They hold the promise of the future and therefore, it is only right that they should be given every opportunity to develop their physical, mental and spiritual potential to the fullest extent in an environment free of want and free of fear” (His Majesty The Fourth Druk Gyalpo, during the international year of the child, July 28th , 1979) I unquote.
Her Majesty the Queen Mother Ashi Tshering Pem Wangchuck, President of YDF, at the lunch of the Bhutan Youth Development Fund in Thimphu on 16th June 1999 also said, I quote, “The Youth comprise more than half of our total population and thus from an important target group. Therefore, the way we handle the development of youth will have a crucial bearing on every development goal that this nation has set collectively. Bhutan’s effort to harness its human resources base to step into the next millennium as worthy human beings and productive citizens of the world should be sustained in the face of financial constraints. The Youth Development Fund can ensure that this noble objective is met now and in the future”. I unquote.
Even the Youth Movement in Bhutan is considered an important forum for young people to channel their energy into positive and constructive behavior and to inculcate life skill education to our Youth not to squander their life but know how to use meaningfully.
Therefore, to give more opportunities to youth and keep engaging, we the 3Es' Youth builders took oppertunities to promote Youth Program. The camp is dedicated to celebrating young people’s contribution to conflict prevention and transformation as well as inclusion, social justice and sustainable peace with the theme “Transformation Education.”
