Waste Management Advocacy & Stream Adoption

Rovers of Royal Thimphu College started the progress of the project with the following motivation: 5 members from RTC attended the virtual SWA Training that inspired the team to take up the project. I am also interested in doing good for the community, so I was motivated to take up the project. I was also motivated because I wanted to motivate people for zero waste production.
This project was carried out in Ngabiphu, Thimphu, the capital of Bhutan. We did the project for 14 days and helped around 2000 people. We were a group of 35 members along with me. The project was divided into two levels: The Discovery level and the Service level.
Around 2000 people were benefitted from this project. The project's main impact was to reduce waste production. The Waste Collection Facility at Ngabiphu that was created was a great success achieved through the support from Thimphu Thromde. The main purpose of the project was to bring was to bring behavioral change at the grass-root level and this was achieved by involving the community people and advocating them about waste management.
I learnt a lot about teamwork and how to work for the same purpose although having different backgrounds. I am also more conscious now about responsible consumption and wastage of resources. I also learnt how to deal with people and convince them to manage their own waste.
