Educational Programme Kander 100

Kandersteg International Scout Centre, is celebrating its 100 years. As part of the Celebrations, the Centre hosted Kander 100 and gathered 1600 scouts from 62 countries. We found it fundamental to include in the programme of the event, activities aligned with the work that is being done by scouts and youth worldwide, regarding global challenges and actions to find solutions. What better opportunity to discuss and take action regarding Global Goals, than in the World Scout Centre? Youth empowerment and action are essential to change not only the future but the present, and in collaboration with WOSM and many partners, we aimed to facilitate an educational programme that promotes awareness and actions towards the SDGs, and personal development, in fun and interactive games and activities. The programme included: Global Goals Exhibition, Workshops, Spiritual Development Area, Service Projects, Kander Challenge, Social Programme, Pop-up activities and Radio Scouting. All the participants in the event had in their agendas at least one morning or an afternoon in each of the areas of the Educational Programme. A lot of scouts expressed their enthusiasm for the activities and what they learned. The development and facilitation of the Educational Programme included the work of a lot of volunteers from around the world. This showed the power of scouting, as a big team working together to promote and create a better world. Communication, teamwork, leadership, flexibility, and quick response to problem-solving were the main learning for the volunteers involved.
