WSEP-Egypt : 1st National workshop on Environment Education

In a partnership between WSEP-Egypt , Y-Peer & Department of Natural Reserves of Ministry of Environment , the egyptian national workshop on Environment Education of WSEP which is the first in the arab scout region was a really productive one ! 40 participants have gathered from the all 4 Egyptian scout associations ( Boy Scouts - Sea Scouts - Air Scouts - Girl Guides ) to take part in this unique workshop . The workshop has focused on environmental SDGs , the 5 aims of WSEP educational framework , WSEP badgeand SCENES , in addition to many sessions about : ( BetterWorld framework - messengers of peace - scouts of the world award ) and the facilitators showed how to link between them. Two partnerships have been made specially for the workshop . The first was with Y Peer-Egypt ( a comprehensive youth-to- youth initiative. Connecting thousands of young people, Y-PEER aims to empower young people at different levels through peer to peer approach. It was created by UNFPA in partnership with UNICEF ) . Three Y Peer trainers made sessions during the workshop about project management and communication skills to help the participants volunteering better with the local groups and association. The second partnership was with " Department of Natural Reserves, Ministry of Environment ". The director of the department "Mr.Mohamed Mostafa" led a session about the importance of Nature Reserves and how to take a positive action as scouts towards them. The workshop was Environment friendly. Reducing the consumption of plastic and paper , using smart phone , laptops and tablets to take note and having a recycling centre. During the closing ceremony , in presence of the egyptian federation of scouts and girl guides chairman , vice chairman , CEO, international commissioner , WSEP Coordinator , SWA coordinator and MOP Coordinator , a total of 50 ( cubs + scouts+ ventures & rovers ) were awarded by the World Scout Environment Programme Badge sharing their experiences of their projects . Also egyptian NSO board thanked the 2017 WSEP national team for their outstanding efforts for bringing this program to reality.
