World water day is a global event observed annually with different themes every year, to inform and realise the importance of water in our daily lives. Schools in Bhutan observe this day with much enthusiasm and educate the community on importance of water conservation. The theme for 2018 is 'Nature for water' and world water organisation calls that the answer is in the nature. It explores for Nature-based solutions in combating the water struggle we face.
About 70% of our world is occupied with water, thus in the past water preservation and conservation was not realised. But with extensive study on water, it has been found that only 1% of the total water present on earth is drinkable. Just 1% for a population of 7 billion people. This 1% will decrease but not the population. Thus we should really give thoughts on how we use our water. It has been recorded that every year millions of people die due to scarcity of safe drinking water.
#SaveWater
Daliphangma Primary school observed the day with lots of activities. The TAKIN PACK of Daliphangma PS actively participated in imparting the ideology for water conservation. Talks and presentations were done in the morning sessions. And we walked the talk in the later activities by cleaning the sources, intake tanks, water taps and planting trees. The school also observed it's #1stanniversary of the forest adopted near the water source. Of the more than 50 saplings we planted last year, only few groomed well and those few trees has instilled much hope in us. We have planted some more tree saplings around the water source.
Every single drop makes changes... So let's save Water.
Thank you
