TAKE A HIKE - CCS commemorates Day of Valor
To commemorate Day of Valor, (Araw ng Kagitingan) CCS planned a 6 kilometer hike at La Mesa Nature Reserve, Quezon City Metro Manila.
Hiking is good exercise, especially since we have been under lockdown for 2 years, due to the pandemic.
"To be Physically Strong, Mentally Awake, and Morally Straight."
We implemented our project in La Mesa Nature Reserve, Quezon City Metro Manila. We also helped one of our outfit advisors plot a path along the designated trail of La Mesa Nature Reserve.
First of all, the people who benefited in the project were the participants themselves.
Secondly, the 6 kilometer trail we hiked has been checked at the same time while we hiked, doing the Nature Reserve a small favor, as a Scout does a "Good Turn Daily".
Third, the entrance fee we paid to go in should help the area's upkeep costs.
And lastly, to have a "new perspective"- seeing plants and wildlife refreshes your mind, and makes you think more clearly.
We learned that trees were important in holding the dam in the nature preserve, and the importance of a watershed for the preservation of our drinking water.
I personally interviewed some Scouts on what they had learned in this Hike. A response was "to promote awareness within the group, being aware of each other's needs and pace, Seeing that we moved as a group in the trail. Another was that "They were able to reconnect with nature alongside their fellow scouts. "
