SWA Project: Feeding, Medicating & Sheltering Dogs

In 2020, after Covid-19 hit Bhutan with constant lockdowns. During this period, when whole country was under lockdown, HM the King of Bhutan, the Patron of Bhutan Scouts, fed all the stray dogs in the country. Usually, stray dogs rely on the food people give when there was no pandemic. This compassion and inclusiveness act of the Patron motivated us to feed, medicate and shelter the stray dogs of the community.
The SWA project was executed in College of Language and Culture Studies, Takste : Trongsa where there is abundant of stray dogs. It is located in the central Bhutan. With the aim to feed, medicate and to build shelter for the dogs we have implemented this project in College and in village. We have invited veterinary doctors to medicate the dogs in the collage and we have also constructed dog kennel. The dogs was fed in and around college campus.
Our project benefited college student and villagers. At the same time number of dog bite case have reduced as we intended.
After completing this project I have learned about the importance of taking responsibility in a society and I could also build a leadership skills by leading a team. Further, while working with the veterinary officials I have learned about medical kits.
