Spreading Joy with Donations

I feel incredibly privileged to always have had access to good quality education in a well facilitated institution such as my school. It is my desire to try and facilitate the education of other kids as well so that we can form a well educated generation; it will benefit my country and the society as a whole. This was my motivation to take up the challenge and help organize this event with the support of my school.
The project was organized at Royal International School Kurunegala (my school) by the management with the support of the students. We collected the funding from the students, teachers, and anyone else willing to donate. Then on the 23rd of July 2019 we travelled to Bakamune Junior School. There we engaged in various fun activities like playing cricket and singing songs. We handed over the donations (stationery and an all-in one Printer, Scanner, and Photocopier).
About 35 students and 5 teachers from the Bakamuna School and 80 students and 10 teachers from my school participated. I believe the students as well as the teachers of Bakamune will reap the benefits of the stationery and machinery provided and improve the quality of their education. Even a small fraction of a generation that grows up with a good education can cause a significant change in the society. The well educated youth can now improve countless lives by implementing their knowledge.
All the students at Bakamune and Royal International School enjoyed interacting with each other and building friendships, which helped us with our interpersonal skills and team building. By making donations we learned the virtue of giving and helping someone else. I would add a more education focused event as well to help the students with their academic activities with some peer-to-peer advice. Overall this was very fulfilling. As the saying goes, whatever donated is for a great cause.
