Siyanakekela “We care”
Scouts and Cubs from 1st Revival, participated in a clean - up campaign and with the help of grade 4 pupils our Group established a vegetable garden at Mlilo Primary school. Cubs helped by watering the garden and removing weeds. The vegetables grown were donated to the school to help with the ongoing feeding scheme programme for needy and hungry learners.
On the 5th June 2012, the World Environment Day, the Rovers, Scouts and Cubs gathered at Mlilo Primary School and planted flowers, orange and shade trees. We used old car wheels to fence and secure the garden. We also used an old drum with wooden poles at our dirt bin to try and stop people from littering. The dirt bins were also installed in the community’s taxi rank as means to educate taxi drivers and passengers to stop littering.
Our group finished the project with artwork by painting the wheels and dirt bins with the words “REDUCE, RE-CYCLE, RE-USE”.
