Sharing Smiles with Bharathamatha Residents

The inspiration for this project came from our desire to mark the 1st anniversary of the Sairam District Association of Scouts and Guides with a meaningful act of kindness. We wanted to celebrate not just with joy, but with purpose—by serving the elderly at Bharathamatha Old Age Home, spreading warmth, compassion, and showing our commitment to community service.

We executed the project by organizing a visit to Bharathamatha Old Age Home on our association’s 1st anniversary. Our team coordinated the preparation and distribution of a special lunch and biscuits for the residents. We interacted with them, shared joyful moments, and ensured the event reflected our Scouts and Guides values—celebrating the day with compassion, respect, and a spirit of service.

Through this project, we learned the true essence of service and the joy it brings to both the giver and receiver. Spending time with the elderly taught us empathy, respect, and the importance of emotional support. We also understood the value of teamwork, planning, and how meaningful celebrations can go beyond ceremonies to create lasting impact in people’s lives.
