School Kit Distribution for Flood affected Children

School Kit Distribution for Flood affected Children

Recent Chennai Floods have united all the youth and volunteers in the city to help each other in rescuing people and rehabilitating them. We are inspired on seeing this and gathered our scouts, rovers and leaders to help people in our neighborhood area by giving food packets, water bottles and other essential things. By seeing this action on social media, our Ex-Rashtrapati Rover Shri. Gokul who is working in a private concern in Singapore got inspired and donated us a sum of Rs. 10,000 for the flood relief works. It gave us a huge support to move forward and help the needy victims. Our Scouters suggested a locality which was devastated enormously on the banks of river cooum. So Scouts and Rovers made a survey in the locality to know how badly the victims have been affected. And the result of the survey was, many homes were able to get daily essential things from the support of different organizations but they were not able to get a school kit which is so important for the Children’s’ education. The total sum given by our ex-rover was wholly spent for a school kit which consists of 100 School bags, 100 pens and 100 notebooks. On 16.01.2016 (Saturday) Scouts, Rovers and Scouters gathered at NSK Nagar and according to the survey taken by scouts and rovers the complete school kits have been distributed to 100 victims in the locality. The Joy and happiness that was observed in the Children and their Parents was the result of this project. We are so thankful to our ex-rover Shri. Gokul who have been doing a great work in our group and it gives a huge strength to have support from another part of the world. We also thank our Scouts, Rovers and Scouters for making it a successful one.
