We performed our service project to a local reindeer herder. Our primary task was to prepare traditional leaf bunches (lehtikerppu in Finnish), which are fed to reindeers during winter as a supplementary diet. We had a crash course to one of the oldest professions in Lapland – reindeer herders have been present in the northern regions for thousands of years. We spent the night at reindeer farm and had the privilege of using the herder’s sauna.
