Plantation Drive at Scout Lecture Hall, Sheikhpora Budgam, Kashmir (Jammu and Kashmir State)

 Concerned for the healthy and hygienic environment, a plantation drive was held at Scout Lecture Hall, Sheikhpora Budgam under the leadership of State Chief Commissioner, J&K State Bharat Scouts and Guides (JKSBSG), Er Nazir Ahmad Khan. The drive was supported physically by Rifat Abdullah, known journalist & Social Activist who also provide the saplings of Devdar. This was the first official Scout programme at Scout Lecture Hall, Budgam where Scouts from Shah-I-Hamdan School, Bemina Budgam took an active part in plantation. State Chief Commissioner on the occasion threw light on the importance of the plantation. State Organizing Commissioner, M. A. Tramboo had put in all his serious efforts to make the event a success. Pertinently, Scouts law, part V says: “A Scout /Guide is Friend to Animals and Loves Nature”, which is time and again practically displayed during the scouts programmes. The presence of M. H. Andrabi (ASOC), Bashir Ahmed (Office Incharge, SHQ Srinagar), Abdul Lateef (District Secretary, Budgam), Aijaz Ahmad Parray (District Training Commissioner), Fayaz Ahmed (District Treasurer), Mubashir Malik (Assistant Secretary), Rovers of the district Budgam BS&G and internationally known Scouter Haroon Malik added zeal to the plantation drive. J&K State Bharat Scouts and Guides, state Headquarter Srinagar expressed gratitude to all the conscious minds who took part in the drive especially Rifat Abdullah and his team who were directly or indirectly involved in the event. The aim of this plantation drive being carried on by the J&K Bharat Scouts and Guides is to promote green environment across Kashmir valley and in last three months, around 70,000 saplings of the Devdar have been planted.
