Peace Created throughout the 9th National Cubs Camboree

The 9th National CUBs Camboree was celebrated at Drasa Primary and Secondary School organised by Lautoka Scouters Council and our National Scouts Leader, Mr Kailash Pillay. The Camboree catered for a massive number of individuals incorporating 687 Cubs, 147 Leaders and Helpers, 98 Organizers, 85 Students and Teachers, and 550 parents. Amazing was the part of the Camboree when all the contingents from Fiji got an opportunity to march throughout Lautoka City and mark the 100 years of Cubs in the World. The march was done with Tasa dhol and FMF funded for the refreshment for all participants. The opening ceremony was done by the Chief Scout and the President of Fiji, Honorable Jioji Konrote. The closing ceremony was officiated by the Minister for Education, Honorable Mahendra Reddy. This was a first exposure for me as a Leader to participate in a Camboree. Cubs really enjoyed each and every aspect of the Camboree as it had really fascinating activities for them. The activities involved were station based games, health awareness programmes, flying fox activity, visiting heritage sites of Fiji such as Viseisei village in Vuda. Cubs also learnt numerous life skills such as living away from home for continuously 3 days, eating all meals with a smile, showing appreciation with complimenting words at each and every phase of the Camboree, socialising with new friends, sharing and caring for each other and promnoting peace by demonstrating hand initials.
