NATIONAL DRUGS AND SUBSTANCE ABUSE WEEK- ADVOCATING ON PEACE
Nakoroboya primary school celebrated the week-long celebration on a very high note. The National Drugs and Substance Abuse is celebrated every year in June. The teachers together with children raised awareness on different topics affecting our communities and nation. The celebration concluded on Friday 28th March with a grand march of about 120 people. The community members also joined the school team and shared their concerns also.
Fiji being a developing nation needs to strengthen more on issues such as teenage pregnancy, drug and substance abuse, proper and quality gender education and health issues such as non-communicable disease. This was all addressed by the chief guest who was the representative from the Ministry of Social Welfare and Poverty Alleviation. The community members also had a session with the officials from the ministry discussing various issues.
Students presented various activities on Gender Equality, Child Abuse, Teenage Pregnancy, HIV/AIDS, Drug and Substance Abuse and NCDs. A session was dedicated to empower people to be agents of peace through proper dialogue and action.
