MY #PROMISE TO THE PLANET

MY #PROMISE TO THE PLANET

AS A SCOUT I HAVE TAKEN THE PLANET PROMISE.

Join us and millions of Scouts in making a Promise to the Planet by doing what we do best - taking action for the environment! Together, we’re inviting you to participate in a global #PromiseToThePlanet campaign to demonstrate just how important climate action is to today’s generation of young people.

These actions by Scouts and the impact of the campaign will be presented to world leaders and policymakers at the UN Climate Change Conference (COP26) taking place in the United Kingdom this November.

World Scouting’s Chief Ambassador, Bear Grylls will be present at COP26 with a team of Scouts to advocate for more ambitious policies to build a climate-resilient society. This includes actions to ensure global warming does not rise above 1.5 degrees Celsius, working together to ratify agreements on carbon emissions and seek a unified global response to the climate crisis.

“Promise to the Planet is an incredible, youth led, global campaign against climate change. It’s our moment to say enough is enough. We’re uniting 54 million Scouts around the world to take action and use their voice in the fight for our planet’s future,” said Bear Grylls who with the group of Scouts will use this moment to be heard and make change happen.

The Promise to the Planet campaign, co-created by young people and volunteers from 20 countries who worked with the World Organization of the Scout Movement, The Scout Association in the UK, WWF and Together for Our Planet, is part of a wider mobilisation effort which has already seen Scouts contribute more than 2 billion hours of community service towards the Sustainable Development Goals.

#PromiseToThePlanet and initiatives such as World Scouting’s new Earth Tribe and Scouts for SDGs enable young people to develop the skills and competencies necessary to become active citizens and leaders of change to create a better world.

As Scouts, we’re committed to finding a global solution because we believe it's our duty to leave our world better than we found it. From June to November this year, let’s join forces across the world and take a stronger stand to tackle climate change.

Join us in making a Promise to the Planet and help us encourage young people to take action for the environment by logging your individual and community service projects on the Scouts for SDGs hub.
