Messengers of Peace India Gathering Phase 2

To Strengthen Messengers of Peace Initiative at the State Level and to educate the Leaders to take the initiative to the grass root level. The National Headquarters with the support of WOSM/APR Conducted the Messengers of Peace Team India Gathering Phase II at Rainbow International School, Nagrota Bagwan, Kangra-Himachal Pradesh 05-09 June 2017. The Gathering was attended by 44 Leaders from 21 State Association of Bharat Scouts and Guides. Shri Shree Prassanna Srivastava, Director, Development Support and Finance, WOSM/APR Region was the Director & Resource Person for the event. Mr. Aroop Sarkar, Asst Director, NR/NHQ and Mr. Madhusudan A S MoP Coordinator from Karnataka, Ms. Spriha Kanwar , Joint SOC, Himachal Pradesh worked as Resource Person. Mr. Pankaj Gupta, MoP Coordinator from Himachal Pradesh was the Gathering Coordinator. A team of professionals and volunteers under the leadership of Sh. NS Manhas, SOC (Scouts) from Himachal Pradesh worked to provide required logistics for the success of the gathering. The Gathering was opened by the State Chief Commissioner, Himachal Pradesh Mr. Dinakar Burathokhi in the presence of Mr. K. K. Gupta, District Chief Commissioner, Kangra and Mr. Chavvi Kashyap, Principal Rainbow International School. After the Opening Ceremony a Group Photo was taken. As it was the Occasion of World Environment Day, The Participants celebrated the Day by Planting 20 Ashoka Tree Saplings in the Campus of Rainbow International School Campus. The participants were integrated during the first session, the personal expectations of participants were collected and gathering objectives were discussed. Formal sessions covering the concept of Messengers of Peace, Registering in the WOSM web site, uploading the activities/ projects/ success story in the web site. State Presentations and Flagship Projects were presented. Organizing the orientation for young people on MoP, planning of activities for peace initiatives etc. were conducted during the course of the Gathering. An opportunity to interact with young people and initiate them to the Messengers of Peace initiative was undertaken thru a field visit at Rainbow International School. A total of 230 Students including Scouts and Guides were oriented and 64 new members were registered in the WOSM website. The Role of Coordinators for Messengers of Peace was discussed and finalized. The workshop concluded with the action plans and evaluation. The Closing Ceremony of the gathering was held on 9th June 2017 and Mr. G S Bali, Hon’ble Minister of Transport and Minister of Food, Civil Supply and Consumer Affairs, Govt. of Himachal Pradesh was the Chief Guest and he along with Shri Shree Prassanna Srivastava, Director, Development Support and Finance, WOSM/APR presented the Certificates and delivered the closing address. Mrs. Meenakshi Kashyap, Innovation Head, Rainbow International School proposed the Vote of thanks. Dr. JS Negi, State Commissioner (Scouts) BSG HP, Dr. Devinder Kashyap, State Secretary, BSG HP and Ms. Kiran Thakur, Joint State Secretary BSG HP were also present in the ceremony The Welcome Dinner hosted by Rainbow International School on 6th June 2017. On the 7th The Gathering went on the Educational Tour to Chamunda, HPCA Cricket Stadium, Dharamshala and Maclodgunj and the Dinner was hosted by Mr. K K Gupta, District Chief Commissioner of Kangra. On the 8th was the Farewell Dinner “Kangadi Dham” hosted by BSG/HP in the Local Kangra Style. The team under the Guidance of Mr. Krishnaswamy R, MoP NSO Coordinator INDIA, and made tireless efforts to get things done in time for effective conduct of the gathering.
