Jalíderes: Encuentro Provincial de Jóvenes Líderes

Youth participation in decision-making is a process that ensures that young people have a voice in the decisions that affect their lives, creates volunteer opportunities for young people to be part of the changes and active collaborations that are made in their communities. The first element of youth participation is focused on leadership training for all young members in a NSO, which was not being worked on in my region, so we created an event for scouts and externals about this topic.
We created an outdoor life camp, aimed at strengthening the skills of those young people in Rovers age who have gone through various leadership development processes, promoting the bond between themselves and other organizations. It was held in Bosque de la Primavera, in Jalisco, sharing a model of learning skills for life ready to share with everyone, learning soft-skills, social leadership, teamwork, SDGs and more. The success of this event allowed it to be repeated until today, post-pandemic.
The event was attended by more than 115 participants between the ages of 17 and 25, from various states of Mexico, distributed in 8 teams, with a different work theme, thus creating an exclusive clan of Rovers for the event, where they were allowed to learn about tools for life , leaving obstacles aside and uniting all their skills to create social projects in favor of their communities, all this in a learning-playing enviroment in the nature. We had the successful support of 20 staff members.
My greatest gift was that we were able to connect the skills with the aspirations of many young people to improve their environment, we created bonds between new friends and gave third parties a taste of the scouting movement. With its two-day program, we met all the objectives set, thanks to an excellent work team and an authentic taste for capacity building. To improve this event we need to consult each year the needs of young people to continue offering them a quality program.
