INCLUSION & DIVERSITY CHALLENGE-"EXTENDING A HELPING HAND"- REACHING OUT TO 9 YEAR OLD MAANVI
Life is a gift of god. Everyone has rights to basic needs. However, there are people who live below the poverty line.
This project is based on a family that needs assistance in acquiring the following to live the life as the wish of God. The family has been residing at Clopcot Street, Yalalevu Ba.
Mr. Mithun Lal (age: 40) had been the only bread winner for the family of 3 {Shailey Lata (age: 38), Maanvi Lal (age: 9}. He had been working for RC Manubhai Lautoka Branch as a truck driver. The family had a peaceful life till Mr Lal had a stroke in the Year 2018. He was bed ridden for 7 months. However, he is now able to walk with a walking stick and the help of his life partner Mrs. Lal. The family has been handicapped in terms of income generation and has difficulties to provide for themselves.
At present they live in a house that was provided by the father in law which doesn’t have any electricity of its own but the lights are being provided by the immediate neighbor (father in- law). However, they do have to give a share of the bill. Also, the family is sitting on a land that doesn’t belong to them. The family was given a piece of land by the Government of the day at a distance where there house is located now and they have to relocate into that area. This is almost impossible as the head of family is inactive in terms of earning income and physicality. Notice letters have been sent from TLTB to pay the arrears for this year. Last year Mrs. Lal paid the land rent through family support and saving they had.
Through this APR Inclusion and Diversity Challenge, we were able to assist Maanvi with School stationaries, shoes and uniform. THis would ensure that she stays in school.
