Empowering Youth and Women through Waste Project
Our place is littered by plastic waste and waste management is a real challenge that most of cities in Bhutan are currently facing. Plastic waste can be recycled and made to saleable products through a comprehensive trainings. This is part of entrepreneurial course catered to capacitate and empower young people and women in Bhutan.
This project creates employment and engages young people in educating on environment and climate action.
The project was conducted in Wochu school in Paro from 1st to 14th January for 30 youth and women. Three skilled trainers accompanied in a 2 weeks training.
The project was impactful as it can help solving many issues as follows:
1. Created employment for youth
2. Supported livelihood of single mother & women
3. Climate action
4. Waste free community
Many young people are interested in the training as its part of their social responsibilities in handling the environmental conservation. If same training could be conducted in other communities where waste management is a major problem.
