DAKO: sTREAT Children

sTREAT Children is a program designed to alleviate street-children’s suffering towards the unprecedented COVID-19 Pandemic. To ensure the safety of the vulnerable, essential products such as facemasks, alcohol, soap, dental products will be provided. Pamphlets with the up-to-date information’s and protocols given by the Department of Health was given for them to be aware of their surroundings. Situations like this are inevitable. In this way, we get to help mitigate the spread of this virus.
sTREAT Children was implemented in local barangays inside of Malayabalay City, Bukidnon, Philippines . Funds were gained through collaborative funding, solicitation, and donations. Formal Request Letter of Permission was also sent to the head of barangays for the implementation. In coordination with local agencies, Hygiene kits including pamphlets were distributed to street-children's in the locality.
The Project addressed the threat of exposure from the Corona Virus on the homeless and street children. They were given hygiene kits and pamphlets for safety and information dissemination. After the project was conducted, the local barangay was inspired and brought up more community involvement programs for the youth. The impact and collision of change of this project is the safety of the street-children's and the growth of youth formation in the city.
During the designing, preparing, and implementing, I realized that there are people who nearly lost everything from the Covid-19 Pandemic. Families with nothing to loose such as the homeless barely is making it through. I now am more grateful for my family who provides me with clothes, food, and a roof above my head. I now acknowledge my privileged and use it to put a smile on children's faces as well as leave this world a little bit better than how I found it.
