Center for Active Reading and Learning (SWA Voluntary Service Week 1 of TMS Scouting Movement; 20 - 25 May 2019)

During the first phase of the SWA Voluntary Service of Tarlac Montessori School Scouts, which took place during the entire duration of the DepEd's Brigada Eskwela, the Scouts together with their consultants and SW Supporters and Advisers (Sctr. Jayson J. Taruc and Debbie B. Taruc)  spent 8 hours each day (8 - 5 PM), renovating an old storage room at Doña Arsenia Elementary School in order to turn it into a functioning reading center, something that DAES doesn't have in its 44-year existence. Another main reason is to make the students appreciate more the joy and love of reading, somethign that is slowly fading due to the technological advancements of the 21st Century.

Besides from the renovating and establishing a Reading Center, the Scouts also took time painting bulletin boards, bookshelves, chairs, tables, as well as helping teachers in their tasks during the Brigada Eskwela. Throughout this week, the team also interacted with the students and faculty DAES as they also do their respective tasks during the Brigada Eskwela.

The TMS Scouting Movement would like to thank Dr. Elizabeth T. Asiaten, TMS School Directress, Dr. Steve Noel L. Dayao, TMS High School Principal, Sctr. Salve Z. Aguilar, Tarlac Council Scout Executive, Sctr. Harmes S. Sembrano, Tarlac Council Chairman, Mrs. Rosalie I. Cabarios, Principal of DAES, Mr. Edwin I. Pagco, Brigada Eskwela Coordinator of DAES, and members of the faculty of DAES for their unwavering support. The movement also extend their warmest gratitudes to those who extended help in terms of fund raising and in-kind donations.

Special appreciation is also extended to Sctr. Yasser F. Sarona for helping the team with regards to the conduct of the SWA Programme.
