ANNUAL HEALTH CAMP & BOOK DONATION BY SRI LANKA OLD SCOUTS OLD GUIDES ASSOCIATION
The Annual Health Camp & the Book Donation of Sri Lanka Old Scout & Old Guides Association was held on 21st Saturday from 10am at Punani, Batikkolo District Sri Lanka. 22 Scout & Guides along with 03 Doctors Travelled to Punani from Colombo with the Medical equipments & medicines for the patients. Treatments were conducted to the Poor farming Families of village Punani.
Punani is a rural village with people of all religious entities. Farming is the main occupation of the villages who are not privileged to bear their own day to day expenses. " We were unable to bear our Cost of Living with the day to day income by doing farming in this village. Then how do we think about the Medical Expenses." Said a Village woman. The Health Camp was able to serve treatment along with medicines which would serve the patient for more than 1 1/2 months on such treatments. The Health Camp also conducted a special Labour room treatment for more than 30 Pregnant mothers & was able to donate items which were required at the time of delivery such as Napkins, Nets, Water Flasks, House Coats, Baby cares etc. This treatment & donation has been a big support for those pregnant mothers because they were unable to bear such cost for such things. It was really sad to see how bad a kid was suffering from Fever & FIT due to lack of knowledge of Parent and the inability to look into child illness. The Doctor who consulted the child took immediate actions to admit the child at the nearest hospital by taking the child & the Mother to Hospital along with writing to the Doctors of Hospital to take care of this kids illness.
After few hours of Treatment the team travelled to a Temple where they conduct a kindergarten for children of families around the village. These families were very happy to receive the next year School items donated by the SOSOG. The Gifts were presented to the the Children by having a small ceremony conducted by the Monks of the Temple.
Once the both events were up to end, the Health Camp was able to donate the remaining Medicines of Minor Illnesses to the Temple & the Army Camps of Punani village.
While leaving the village we were thinking of serving the village with EYE treatment & donating Spectacle as it was not conducted at the Health Camp.
