5th Community Development Camp and 10th National Rover Moot Service Projects
This was a community development camp organised by Bangladesh scouts in Debigonj, Ponchogor. 2 teams from my scout group participated in this camp. Since this is a community based camp there were many community projects going on everyday. Me and my team participated in 2 of these activities. One of them was on clean water, sanitation and personal hygiene. We hiked to a nearby village and talked to the villagers. We supplied them with leaflets and taught them about the need for using and drinking clean water. We showed them how to use halogen tablets to purofy water. We also taught them that they should wash their hands with soap after using the restroom and about overall personal hygiene.
Another of the projects was in a small local school. We went to the school and talked to the kids. We played with them and did our best to inspire them to stay in school and continue their education.
These 2 projects really opened our eyes to the state in which the poor people live. There is a huge gap in the living standard between the poor in the villages and the people living in the cities. We tried our best to educate the people in our surroundings towards reducing these inequalities.
