Boy Scouts of the Philippines celebrated the #Rovers100 with its 2018 Centenary Rover Moot held in three key locations in the Philippine archipelago. Mindanao had it in the historic Camp Jose T. Atilano, Pasonanca Zamboanga City with 720 Rovers and Rover Peers. While Visayas housed 1100 participants in the lovely woods of Capitol Hills Scout Camp, Cebu City. And the biggest group who gathered, Luzon startled the entire BSP with its 3600 strong Rovers and Peers camped in the adventure filled Camp Kainomayan, Botolan Zambales. In total, the 2018 Centenary Rover Moot got the all-time high 5420 Rover gathering. This milestone formally opened simultaneously on 26th of August with numerous VIP’s from DepEd, Local Government Units and BSP. Mindanao was graced by no less than Gen. Cedric G. Train, Chief National Commissioner, while Visayas had the ever supportive Mr. Roberto M. Pagdanganan, Senior Vice President and Luzon had the very passionate and full of wisdom, our very own Secretary General, Eng. Rogelio S. Villa, Jr. Everyone is energetic and excited despite the heavy rainfall in Luzon. Right after the Grand Opening Ceremony, all participants were endorsed to their respective Immersion Officers and went to the Immersion Sites. The true highlight of all the Rover Moots are the Community Immersion, all Rover Scouts’ mandate. Partakers are tasked to accomplish community focused projects from 27-29 August scattered in different areas intended to create wide impact in the city. Rovers from Mindanao formed five Immersion Projects, while Visayas created six and Luzon managed to come up with thirteen assorted projects. They also had fun adventures like high ropes and obstacle challenge. And of course to prepare Rovers to become global citizens, they engaged the World Programmes like Messangers of Peace, World Scout Environment Programme, Scouts Go Solar and Scouts of the World award. This amazing event is possible through the hard work of the Project Officers/ Directors: Mr. Arnel C. Delute, RFSE WMR/EMR; Mr. Bienvenido B. Toledo, RSD WVR/EVR and Ms. Imelda Samson, RSD NELR/ CLR/ IR and all the staff of the National Service Team. To sum it all up, 2018 Centenary Rover Moot is a milestone for the BSP and able to leave a lasting impact not just in the lives of the locals in the community, but to the Rovers who took part of the event. It was indeed a celebration of 100 years of Rover Scouting, life-long services, sustainable projects, community development, peace advocacy, environmental awareness and a hundred more reasons!
