1st Pinetown Cubs partner with Sinosizo Siyaphambili Childcare Centre
As part of our Cub National Challenge we partnered with Sinosizo Siyaphmabili Childcare Centre, which is run by the mother of one of our Pack Scouters. To help them, we planted a vegetable garden, with the aim of donating the harvest to the centre. We had a false start, but a second planting proved to be more successful and produced a good crop of spinach and beans. The Cubs also sorted through their bookshelves at home and brought to a Pack meeting books they had outgrown. They looked through these for any necessary repairs, and wrote a note to go into each book, saying what they had enjoyed about it. Then the Cubs also made fleece baby blankets to donate. We visited the centre on Saturday, 19 October with the Cubs and Meerkats and ran a programme of games and activities that the Cubs and Meerkats and the children from the centre enjoyed together, and gave them the items we had collected. We enjoyed a dance show put on by the children at the centre. Sinosizo Siyaphambili expressed appreciation for our efforts, and said they would be glad to keep in touch for further collaboration.
