164th BP Day Celebration

Our Scout School (Dr. Rajaguru Scout School) was able to successfully host the annual blood donation camp of Chilaw Scout District Branch which was held for the 11th time on 22nd of February 2021, to celebrate the 164th Founder's Day. This was the first event of the day and was organised by our Scout School under the leadership of our C.E.O. Dr. Champika Roshan Lowe and the Assistant District Commissioner - Media, Messenger of Peace District Coordinator and Vice Principal of Dr. Rajaguru Scout School, Miss. W. Nawoda Chamalki Lowe.

The programme was started with religious observances and commemorating Lord Barden Powell. Mrs. Sahida Hettiarachchi who is an Advisor of Mr. Arundika Fernando - the State Minister of "Coconut, Kithul and Palmyrah Cultivation, Promotion and Related Industrial Product Manufacturing & Export Diversification", an Advisor of Mr. Ajith Nivard Cabraal - the State of Money, Capital Markets and State Enterprise Reforms and the Colombo District Director of All Ceylon Human Rights Federation was present as the Cheif guest of the camp. Mr. Nalin Ravindra, Chilaw Scout District Commissioner and Mr. Hilary Prasanna, Attorney at law, Chairman of Chilaw District Scout Association also joined to the camp. After the opening ceremony while the blood donation camp was happening, the Scouts were taken to Dr. Rajaguru Scout School Premises which is also the Headquarters of Chilaw District Scout Association, for the next event of the day.

As the second event of the day, the Scouts and Scout Leaders of the District planted trees at our Scout School premises to participate in the "National Operation for planting 100,000 trees" which was organised by the National Scout Headquarters to celebrate the Founder's Day.

108 were participated for this event and 49 from it, were Blood Donors.


Finishing the blood donation camp, the Rover Scouts were taken near five lakes to plant native Arjun trees (Kumbuk) while giving a message "plant a tree for each tree you cut" to the society and they also planted some trees near a lake which was flowing near our Scout School Premisses.

This tree planting project will be continued up to 22nd March 2021. Scout were adviced to plant trees at their homes and also to motivate others to plant more trees.
