Youth Program Review .... "the Greek way"

The last comprehensive Review of the Youth Program of S.H.P. took place in the 1980s. Since then, several improvements have been implemented in the programs of the sections, with the aim of keeping them up-to-date. However, many of the efforts made to improve the youth programs of the sections were fragmentary, and as a result the method was not applied in a uniform way in all sections, often losing the common language. Despite the individual improvements and interventions, the structure of the current Scout Program of S.H.P. is formed several decades ago and can no longer monitor and respond to the capabilities and needs of today's young people. Many of the issues that concern today's young people should be included in the new youth program. The contemporary social needs and priorities, as they have been reflected through surveys carried out by S.H.P. in the year 2022, are also a great challenge for the new youth program, which should be able to meet the expectations of today's society. The method, content, and way of planning activities in the scout sections also need to be adapted to the possibilities and the way in which the adult leaders of S.H.P. can cooperate and create learning opportunities today. The review of the youth program involves all young members and adult leaders of S.H.P. All members of the scout sections and all adult leaders have been invited to take an active role. The adult leaders of SHP will actively participate in all phases of the review and will be members of the working groups that established. When the three-year plan of the review is completed, the adult leaders will be asked to decide on its final change and implementation of the new youth program through the conferences of the sections We believe that the review of the youth program (after 40 years) is imperative so that it can meet the modern young people who are members of the scout movement, but also attract new members.
