World No Tobacco Day
On the occasion of World No Tobacco Day, KC Gurukul Unit of Bharat Scouts and Guides, District Udhampur organized a virtual drawing competition for public awareness. On this occasion, the students made different pictures on the masks and made people aware of the harm caused by tobacco consumption. District Training Commissioner, Veena Sharma said that on the 31st of May every year, No Tobacco Day is celebrated as World Tobacco Day. Its goal is that people should be aware of their health and keep distance from things that can harm health, especially in the Covid period. Scout Master Rakesh Sharma said that this year's theme is "committed to quit tobacco". This campaign encourages people to give up tobacco for a healthy life. Many exhibitions and programs are organized to create many awareness to explain its harmful effects to the people. But there will be no public campaign because of the Covid epidemic. So to make the students aware, a virtual event was organized in which Scouts and Guides are making the society aware through online debate and real-life stories. Guide Captain Divyangna Dubey told that 45 Scouts and Guides of Amardeep High School, Brahmarshi Babra Shanti Vidhya Peeth, K.C Gurukul etc. participated and motivated people to stay away from tobacco. Scout Master Amar Dev Singh explained to everyone that smokers are at a higher risk of getting taxed and in the grip of illness, they also need intensive therapy and ventilators more than non-smokers. Former District Commissioner, Bharat Scout Guide Udhampur, Ashok Kumar, wished all the participants in the competition and explained that people should avoid the consumption of tobacco, it is better to leave this addiction in time. Consumption of tobacco causes damage to the body at all levels and immunity is affected. In such a situation, if people are infected with corona, they may have to face more problems. People need to be more careful in such Covid era . He suggested the Scout Guide family to take the lead in this mission. Scout Masters Dr. Khemraj, Ved Kumar, Arun Kumar, Amit kumar , Guide Captains Anuradha Sharma, Priyanka Sharma etc. made invaluable contribution in making the program a success.
