Water for a Child - South Sudan MoP Project

Water for a Child - South Sudan MoP Project

About this project: Most primary schools in Juba faces serious lack of clean drinking water and hand washing facilities including garbage/rubbish dumping pits which resulted to poor sanitation and hygiene situations. This situation affects the life and health of the children including Scouts who are also pupils in most of the schools. The Ministry of Health and Environment alongside their implementing partners has been promoting and encouraging Hygiene Promotion to prevent outbreak of water related diseases, however, their efforts need to be complimented in order to respond to this challenge. The Rhino Rover Crew, is aware of the situation and would like to bring our contribution to make a difference and positive change. This project intends to install 2000 litres plastic water tanks, fix 2 hand washing tip-taps of 100 litres each, train 60 Rover Scouts as hygiene promoters and provision of Information Education Communication (IEC) materials in 5 selected schools to address the alarming situation of unsafe drinking water and hygiene situation. This project aims at enhancing hygiene and sanitation in schools as well as in the local communities in the Republic of South Sudan, and so as to attract new members to join scouting. This short clip is a testimonial from one of the beneficiary school Heads.
