THE TRAINING DEPARTMENT OF THE NIGERIA SCOUT ASSOCIATION SET TO COMMENCE THE 2016 TRAINING SESSION IN GRAND STYLE WITH THE REINTRODUCTION OF THE PROFICIENCY BADGE

The Adult Resource and Training Department of The Nigeria Scout Association, on March 18th 2016 formally opened the 2016 Training Season by organizing an All Scout Trainers Conference in the Oba Akenzua II International Scout Camp OGBA Benin in Edo State Nigeria. The Conference was an initiative aimed at updating the Trainers drawn from the States of the federation and also comprising of all Leader Trainers (LT) and Assistant Leader Trainers (ALT) and was Presided over by the Assistant Chief Commissioner in charge of Adult Resources and Training Department Prince James OYELAMI and the National Training Commissioner Alhaji SAKA Abdul-Azeez, It was a Conference that saw eminent Scout Leaders come together to plan ahead on the Programs lined up for 2016 and beyond. The Chief Commissioner Olusoga SOFALAHAN, the Honorary National Secretary Dr Ahmad BELLO. Dr Gab ALETOR of the Order of African Elephant (OAE). Chief A. S. KUSIMO the one time National Training Commissioner and now the ACC South West, Mr Esan I A IDOWU, the last National Training Commissioner, and very numerous Scout Leaders were at the Conference making the two day Conference packed with actions and lively. The Attraction focused on the reintroduction of the Proficiency Badge Scheme which has over the past years been left to rot away due to the unavailability of the Badges and the fact that the old scheme was nearly outdated and no more serving the taste of the present. The Coordinator of the Proficiency Badge Mr Said MUMUNEY worked extensively with his Team to produce the new scheme foe the Proficiency Badge which received approval by the National Scout Council. The Highlight of the Conference was the laying of the FOOTSTEP Memorial of Dr Gab Aletor leaving his FOOT IMPRINT at the entrance of The National Office of the Camp. A total of 95 Training Officers drawn from the various State Training Teams were listed on the Attendance List while more than 15 National Officers were in attendance.
