Towards a Plastic-free Lake Victoria

Kisumu, a vibrant city on the shores of Lake Victoria, is grappling with the pressing issue of plastic pollution. The continuous use of single-use plastics, together with low levels of public awareness and ignorance on the environmental consequences, has led to a considerable increase in plastic waste. This pollution not only affects the local ecosystem but also increases significant threats to the health and sustainability of Lake Victoria - the largest freshwater lake in Africa. During this years Founderee camp, Blue Planet Warriors had the opportunity to engage scouts in Behavioral change strategies session, to encourage fellow scouts in responsible consumption and healthy habits towards protecting and preserving our planet from plastic pollution. As scouts, and with advantage of numbers as the largest youth organization, We hold the power to spread the word about the negative impacts of plastic pollution and inspire our friends and families to make smarter choices towards creating a better world that we would wish to inherit. Together, we can create a more sustainable future, not just for ourselves, but for generations to come, cultivate a strong sense of environmental stewardship and help make our planet a cleaner, healthier place.
