Star Gazing Night: Culture and the Cosmos

What inspired you to take up the project?

“We were inspired by the chance to join the STEAM club in a Star Gazing programme. Many students had never closely observed the night sky. By combining Scouting’s spirit of service with practical science, we made learning hands-on and raised awareness of clean air and light pollution, supporting SDG 4, SDG 13 and SDG 17.”

What are the learnings you got from implementing this project and how would you make it better?

We learned that teamwork, careful planning and community support make a project succeed. Learning under the open sky made science real for students, and it taught us to value and protect our clean air, our night sky and our environment.

Where was your project implemented and how did you execute it?

“Five hours under the stars, a lifetime of curiosity.” “The Scouts and STEAM club planned the programme together and prepared the equipment and sky guides. The session was held on 23rd October at the school football ground for around five hours, with equipment supported by The Namkha.”
