Sangrash Vidya Kendra – TTL Scout Troop Activity

The Scout Troop of Sangrash Vidya Kendra, Jammu, under the Ticket to Life (TTL) Project – India, has been actively engaging Scouts and Guides in a wide range of developmental, educational, and community-based activities. Through regular troop meetings, newly recruited members are introduced to the fundamentals of Scouting, including the Scout Sign and Promise, along with its importance in everyday life. These sessions also provide an overview of the troop’s annual plans, including participation in national and Scouting celebrations, ensuring the holistic development of each member. Beyond indoor and educational activities, the Scouts have also been deeply involved in social service initiatives. They actively participated in cleanliness drives in the locality of Maratha Colony, reflecting the values of responsibility and civic awareness. A memorable educational experience was their visit to the Suchetgarh Border, where they witnessed the Beating Retreat Ceremony, further instilling national pride and awareness of India's heritage. In terms of life skills, the troop conducted First Aid learning sessions where members were taught essential emergency response techniques, including how to use a First Aid box and apply various types of bandages. These sessions were followed by practical demonstrations and practice, preparing Scouts to respond confidently in real-life situations. One of the most impactful initiatives was the organization of a Medical and Immunization Camp in collaboration with the Indian Red Cross Society (IRCS), Jammu Region. This camp provided free medical consultations, distribution of medicines, nutrition advice, immunizations for children and women, and general relief aid in the slum areas of Maratha Colony, Trikuta Nagar. It was a significant step towards improving healthcare awareness and services among underprivileged communities. In the pursuit of overall well-being, the troop also observed International Yoga Day, where Scouts enthusiastically participated in practicing various yoga asanas under expert guidance. This not only promoted physical fitness but also highlighted the importance of mental wellness and mindfulness. All these activities reflect the unwavering dedication of the TTL Project team and the leadership at Sangrash Vidya Kendra, which continues to empower young people through Scouting by instilling values of service, leadership, health, and unity in every child involved.
