RENEWING OATH OF RESTORING PEACE AND HARMONY
Twentieth of August is annually observed as Sadbhavana Diwas (Harmony Day) with accordance to commemorating the Birth Anniversary of Rajiv Gandhi, former Prime Minister of the Country. The day marks an inevitable commitment of the nation towards achieving equality in all domains of the society. The day promotes social peace and harmony within the nation through elimination of discrimination of all forms.
Scouts and Guides across the country reiterate their commitment towards creating a better world through educating individuals and creating the requisite awareness on the existing social inequalities. They are inclined towards interacting with the vulnerable and marginalised sections of the society while inoculating them with a sense of unity and equality. Additionally, scouts and guides through their behavioural principles continue to inspire others to adopt the principles of equality in their daily life and treat discrimination as an unfair and unjustified practise.
The action marks active contribution towards multiple sustainable development goals prescribed by the United Nations which are inclined towards minimising social discrimination and ensuring right elements of social justice are delivered to the society.
On this occasion, scouts and guides renew their oath towards striving relentlessly to achieve the dream of equality in the independent nation. They propel to terminate the forms of discrimination namely social, economic, cultural, religious while promoting peace and harmony. In addition to which, they aspire to prevent channelisation of discrimination towards destabilising the society.
I had renewed my oath for striving for peace and harmony with other scouts at Vidhana Soudha monument which stands as an embodiment of the structure and organisation of the government. I will continue to actively indulge in work associated with upholding the promise while urging everyone to do the same in order to create a better world.
