Membership Badge Award Ceremony - October 13, 2023

On October 13, 2023, the Centenary Sea Scout Ship (TTL Katunayake) Scout Troop proudly held its Membership Badge Award Ceremony, a momentous event recognizing the hard work and dedication of its Scouts. The ceremony was graced by the presence of distinguished guests and the families of the Scouts, making it a memorable occasion for all. The chief guest for the event was the Negombo District Commissioner, Mr. Romesh Rodrigo. He was joined by Assistant District Commissioners Mrs. Sureni Jayasuriya and Mr. Nirmal Fernando, as well as Katunayake Central College Principal, Mrs. Punya Shayamali. Scout Leader Assistant District Commissioner, Mr. Deeshan Fernando, and the parents of the Scouts also attended, adding to the significance of the ceremony. The event commenced with a formal opening, followed by an inspiring speech from Mr. Rodrigo, who commended the Scouts on their achievements and encouraged them to continue embodying the principles of Scouting. His words highlighted the importance of the membership badge as a symbol of commitment and growth. Each Scout was then individually called forward to receive their membership badge from Mr. Rodrigo, accompanied by applause and cheers from the audience. The presence of such esteemed guests made the moment even more special for the Scouts. In addition to the badge presentations, the ceremony featured reflections from several Scouts, who shared their personal Scouting journeys and the skills they had acquired. These heartfelt stories underscored the positive impact of Scouting on their lives. The event concluded with a group photo session, capturing the joy and pride of the Scouts and their families. Light refreshments were served, allowing everyone to mingle and celebrate the achievements of the day. The Membership Badge Award Ceremony was a significant and joyous occasion for the TTL Katunayake Troop, marking the Scouts' progress and their continued dedication to the values of Scouting.
