Zero Waste Hour

Zero Waste Hour The project came out with the plans from Municipal Corporation, Phuentsholing to celebrate "Zero Waste Hour" in the city and to keep the city clean. The students of Phuentsholing Primary School (Classes IV to VI) and the teachers joined this events and cleaned the school and its peripheral area. The members collected about 345 kgs of waste (both dry and wet) and disposed in the designated area.
The project was executed at the school level, keeping the theme, "Think Globally, Act Locally." The project plan was approved by school administration and all the students ranging from class IV to VI and the teachers were involved. The team cleaned the school and its peripheral areas.
With this project the more than 3000 people including students, teachers and parents were benefited. The youth were engaged meaningfully with the team work and their participation. The students learnt about the waste management and advocating with the theme, "My Waste, My Responsibility". The commuters were also advocated about the waste management.
To further strengthen the project the next project is aimed to clean all the town area, national highways as a part of community partnership programme. The youth of other schools will be also be included for further advocacy and extension.
