Young Reporters for the Environment - FEE

The YRE empowers young people to take an educated stand on environmental issues they feel strongly about and gives them a platform to articulate these issues through the media of writing, photography or video. Scouts de Argentina has been part of the implementation of this project in Argentina. To raise awareness and approach this FEE initiative, we have taken advantage of the Earth Tribe initiative we have well implemented in our Youth Programme, specially the Plastic tide turners challenge.
We have worked together with the Argentinian FEE team, creating an open call for people to team up and create their own videos to be part of the national contest. Each team had to create a concept video based on a local problematic. We had technological devices at disposal in the Community Involvement Centers, which was also used as spaces to meet between teams and deepen their work.
This was the first time we are partnering with FEE Argentina and the experience has been significant for both of us. Our Scout Groups have even one first and second place of the national contest and will be participating in the international one: -First and second place in category: VIDEO 19-25 years old -Second place in category: VIDEO 19-25 years old -First place in category: VIDEO 15-18 years old
We have strengthen the Triple R (Reduce, Reuse and Recycle) workshops in our Community Involvement Centres with better quality training content and materials, as well as how we manage litter and waste in these places. We have found a new way of working the Earth Tribe with young people in Argentina.
