World Environment Day Tree Plantation

We were inspired by the message of World Environment Day and the need to fight climate change in our own community. Seeing how cities are losing green spaces and how hot summers are becoming, we wanted to take action instead of just talking about it. Planting trees at our college felt like a simple but powerful way to protect nature, give future students more shade, and show that young people can make a difference.

First, our scout team met a few days before World Environment Day to plan everything. We chose Govt. Tolaram College as the spot and got permission from the college authority. On the day, we gathered early with saplings, shovels, and watering cans. We also spoke with students and teachers about taking care of the trees so they can grow strong in the future.

We learned that even a small action, like planting a few trees, can create a big impact when people work together. Teamwork made the work easier and more fun, and we realized how important planning is to keep everything organized. We also saw how caring for the environment starts with simple habits—like watering and protecting young trees—that anyone can do. Most of all, we learned that change begins when you take the first step instead of waiting for someone else to start.
