WOOD BADGE CENTENARY MOBILISATION

WOOD BADGE CENTENARY MOBILISATION

On the 17th of January, we had on a global level the presentation of ideas regarding the celebrations of the centenary of the Wood Badge as a milestone in the development of adults in the Scout Movement. We were pleasantly surprised to know that the Brazilian participation in the broadcast via crowdcast was massive and participative, with approximately 180 participants during the event. This expressive participation is a consequence of the actions that since last year since the first World Scout Bureau bulletin on the subject, translated into Portuguese, have been carried out in this NSO. The mobilization for the Centenary, has been using some strategies, which will be listed below: 1 - We launched in Brazil, based on the logo published worldwide, a commemorative badge, so that all adults can use it. This action usually encourages volunteers to pay more attention to the themes celebrated. 2 - All the global documents related to the subject are translated in a just-in-time way into Portuguese, a factor that makes information available to all our members. 3 - The Campfire was previously divulged, which enabled the mobilization of many people throughout the country to participate. 4 - There is a mobilization in our social networks, such as Instagram and Facebook, in which information about the celebrations are released weekly 5 - A communication network is established that uses groups of Whatsapp for proliferation of ideas, this tool has a very high power of divulgation, which allows that quickly relevant information such as the Centenary of the Wood Badge can reach the national territory instantaneously . 6 - In addition to these ideas, it was announced at the beginning of the year that the Scouts of Brazil would promote a series of actions regarding this celebration, with the launching of other authorial materials, inspired by the actions of a global level, which so far are: * The publication of the activity matrixes with suggestions for the commemoration * The publication of a timeline, which involves global and national facts about the Wood Badge* The publication of a notebook, explaining and suggesting the realization of a Meeting of Gilwell in national territory.
