We plant a greener Tunisia
"We plant a greener Tunisia" is a project focused on planting trees in a forest victim of a criminal burning on 2002. The forest is essentially a pine trees forest in the north western part of Tunisia (Beja, forest of Chat Zouaraa). THe burning took about 50 hectars of the forest. The idea was to work on raising awareness of 50 scouts and guides regarding the ecosystem balancce and the role of trees in the world and essentially the pine trees in the region for the families that worked in pines collection.
THe participants were also trained on trees planting techniques (separations, distances ...), team-building and group-working etc...
The volunteering work was done through 14 days, participants were able to plant 4700 trees over 20 hectars. They had door-to-door raising awareness activity to sensitise the inhabitant of the region to protect their forest, to know the importance of the trees for the evironment protection and for the families as a potential source of icome. The project included scout activities, pioneering, advuntre and a lot of fun.
