Wastse Management Awareness Programme
I was inspired to start the Waste Management Programme by the need to promote a clean and healthy environment and encourage Scouts and students to take responsibility for proper waste disposal. I wanted to raise awareness about waste reduction, segregation, recycling, and responsible environmental practices.
I conducted awareness activities on proper waste segregation, disposal, reduction, and recycling. Scouts participated in cleaning activities, separated waste into appropriate categories, and encouraged others to maintain a clean environment. The programme was implemented through teamwork, practical activities, and awareness messages.
I learned that proper waste management requires awareness, responsibility, teamwork, and consistent action. The project taught me the importance of waste segregation, reducing waste, recycling, and encouraging others to keep the environment clean. It also strengthened my leadership and community-service skills.
“Our awareness programme taught students that waste is not the end of a product’s journey but the beginning of our responsibility, and that small habits like segregating, reusing and reducing can protect our community and our planet.”
“The Earth is what we all have in common.” (Wendell Berry)
