Waste Management Awareness Program
Report on Awareness Program Performed by Scouts during Tsechu Holiday
Upon the approval from Dzongkhag Administration, the scout from Chukha CS has successfully conducted open space theater on the theme “Our Waste, Our Responsibility” with the following objectives.
• To secure cooperation and support of every individual in enhancing public awareness on the issue of waste and its hazards on health and environment.
• Disseminate the vital and relevant messages on the issues of climate change.
• To make every person or organization to comply and cooperate with waste segregation, reduction, reuse and recycling standards and initiatives as required under Waste Prevention and Management Regulation, 2012.
Such awareness program was also performed last year. This year too we performed during the last day of Tsechu that was on 30th October 2017. As per our planning we resolved to perform on 29th October second day of Tsechu, but due to some inconvenience we had to put off to the next day.
After setting up all the required materials we commenced the program at around 1 pm. prior we start the main program, our scout leader Lop Jamyang Tsheltrim gave a brief speech on our main motive of creating and coming up with the awareness program. Followed by which GYT Chairperson gave a short talk on waste management. Though down pour begin at the midst of the act, we carried out on the program. At the beginning of the program all audience were fascinated by our performance but due to rain we partially lost the attention from the public. However it didn’t matter to us, the program progressed and ended at around 3:30 pm.
The main aim of coming up with the performance was to create awareness in the minds of each individuals so that everyone would be responsible of their own waste ensuring that no one harm the pristine environment. Though the weather did not favour us but we enjoyed the event creating awareness to the public. Before we actually disperse we did paper picking for about 15 minutes. Though it seems that the program can’t make any differences but listening to the positive feedbacks from the public we would perceive that we had done something great. It had become some sort of incentives to the participants and to those who witnessed.
Most blissful thing that we received was after the program the audiences were really impressed by our wonderful job. One of the officials from Dzongkhag shared his views that he was really taken a back that if we were really a student because he hadn’t thought we can perform to that extend. Along with which we received many positive comments from the public which distinctly indicates that they are all convinced thorough our job. Therefore we are contend that we could at least make some difference.
