VAN MAHOTSAV

The green forest fulfills all our basic needs as food, cloth & shelter as well as medicine. For this reason in our country. there was the tradition of worshiping the trees and plants. But the modern man started forgetting all about it, considering it as a blind belief. But now a days everybody realises its importance and has revived the tradition. As a result every year we the Indians, observe VANAMAHOTSAV or Forest Festival in the first week of July(01st-07th)
Odisha State BS&G has actively participated in VANMAHOTSAV this year. The programme has been inaugurated on 01-July 2021. Around 190 Scout/Guide/Rover/Ranger and unit leaders from different corner of our state have celebrated the programme. They have planted saplings of different fruit yielding tree along with long surviving trees. Also some saplings were distributed among the public. Participants are very much enthusiastic and have taken oath to look after the upbringing of their plantation.
As expected the people concerned became aware of the importance of trees. Its greenery to the eyes, the oxygen it releases to our life, the positive vibration it creates to our soul is beyond comparison apart from the fruits, flowers, leaves and even the trunk which helps us for survival.
The people learnt how to plant the saplings, nurture the plants properly. They also came to know about the art of harvesting.
