URBAN GARDENING (Oriental Mindoro Council)
In light of the pandemic, instead of going out or focusing my attention on gadgets, I wanted to try new things and I came across gardening which I saw on the page of our Council. Since I am not in a really rural area and do not have much land to grow crops on, I decided to try a less invasive and controllable crop producing drive which is urban gardening.
The project was lead by outfit advisors from Mindoro as well as our council head. It was executed with the help of my family as my grandfather and grandmother are fond of gardening and crop production. Equipment I used in order to make this possible was from them. Meanwhile, from time to time, I also choose to take care and water them properly.
Since this was a joint project from the council despite the distance. Approximately 75 families benefited from this project. This aided our family as crops I planted were used when cooking our viand at days. It also promotes a much healthier lifestyle as they are vegetables.
From implementing this project, I have learned that you do not need much when gardening. If you wanted to do something, as long as you are determined to do it, you can. Despite not having much land to plant on, I managed to utilize PET bottles and pots hanged on our cloth hanger for convenience and proper space usage.
