Unseen & Seen: A Workshop on Identity and Dialogue
Many Venturers (15–18) move through their daily lives: school, family, Scout unit, etc. without ever pausing to ask: Who am I, and why does it matter? This project creates a safe space for young Scouts to look inward, rediscover their identity, and recognize the conflicts that quietly shape their relationships. Because when a young person truly knows who they are, they are ready to engage and change the world around them.
The project is delivered as a 3-hour interactive workshop that takes Venturers through a journey of self-discovery and dialogue. Starting with trust-building and a shared safe space to explore their identity through the Identity Star activity, learn the 10 Principles of Dialogue for Peace, and apply them to real-life challenges via the Dialogue Café. By the end, each participant leaves with a clearer sense of self and the skills to communicate constructively in every environment they belong to
Running the Dialogue for Peace Project is as much a learning experience for me as it is for the participants. Designing and facilitating a space where young people feel safe enough to share and express themselves, and active listening, skills that are sharpened with every session. I also learned more insight into the real struggles Venturers face across different environments. Witnessing young people grow in self-awareness and confidence throughout the workshop.
