Trees for the World

This day we've started our contribution to the main project Trees for the World. 22 Scouts and Explorer Scouts went to Quatro Barras, a city near Curitiba, south of Brazil, where they started the recovery of a part of an area which belongs to the Atlantic Forest, a unique bioma that 500 years ago went from the North Shore of Argentina to Bahia, Brazil. The scouts reintroduced 50 trees of Araucaria angustifolia, Sebastiania commersoniana, Eugenia uniflora, Campomanesia xanthocarpa and Schinus terebinthifolius, all local species, in about two hours. Another development was made at Bosque Gomm, a recently occupied area where the community stopped its demolition and the building of a useless street and is working to its recovery. 29 Scouts and Cub Scouts planted 30 species of fruit trees in order to atract birds and small mammals to the area to help its natural recovery. The species were Casearia sulvestris, Eugenia involucrata, Vitex megapotamica, Eugenia uniflora, Campomanesia xanthocarpa, Murciaria floribunda. We've started humbly, with 80 new trees, but we intend to keep working. We are Grupo Escoteiro Santos Dumont, 20 - PR. Sempre Alerta para Servir o Melhor Possível! Be Prepared!
