Trees for Medicine Hat

Trees for Medicine Hat

Devastated by floods in recent years, the City of Medicine Hat has built creative earth berms to protect the river banks and community. In the process, 1,000 trees had to be removed. Rain did not deter about 200 volunteers - 60 representing Scouting - to unite to plant 2,500 saplings in Strathcona Island Park. Beaver Scouts, Cub Scouts, Scouts and Venturer Scouts from the Rattler Area of Chinook Council did their part. Many years from now, these young people will be able to walk the trails and show their children and grandchildren how they helped create the future. Each Scout received a special patch to mark the occasion.
