Tree planting restoration green raising project

I was inspired by the increasing coastal erosion and loss of mangroves in our community. I saw how fishermen were struggling to get fish and homes were at risk from rising tides. As a scout, I wanted to take action to protect our environment and restore the natural barrier that mangroves provide for future generations.
We planned the project with my scout patrol and teachers. We identified a bare area in the school compound, collected seedlings of indigenous trees and flowers from the local nursery, and prepared the ground. Together with fellow students and teachers, we planted the seedlings, watered them, and put fences around them for protection. We created a duty rota for watering and taking care of the plants to ensure they grow well.
I learned the importance of teamwork and patience in caring for the environment. I also learned that small actions like planting trees in our school can make a big difference in improving air quality and making the compound beautiful. This project taught me responsibility, as we must continue to care for the plants for them to survive.
