Tree Plantation Week 2024

In Bangladesh, tree-covered green spaces make up approximately 17% of the land, which is below the ideal forest coverage of 22-25% for a country. As the population grows, the pressure on natural resources and the environment increases. The high population density often results in deforestation to accommodate human settlements. To mitigate these adverse environmental impacts, it is vital to participate in community tree-planting initiatives.
To effectively achieve the tree plantation objective, scouts and rovers from Rajuk Uttara Model College Scout Group took part in the National Tree Plantation Week (8 to 14 July 2024) Program, which was organized by the governmental body Rajdhani Unnayan Kartipakkha (RAJUK) as part of an initiative led by the Ministry of Housing & Public Works of the People's Republic of Bangladesh.
The key takeaway from executing the project is that strategic partnerships catalyze impactful actions. When social organizations unite with the government in the Environmental Movement, it paves the way to progressively tackle the challenge of climate change.
